The fund seeks to exceed total return performance of the benchmark index by investing in large-size companies in the United States.
The investment process follows an enhanced index strategy to invest in the fund’s benchmark index futures contracts and in fixed-income securities.
The team typically makes margin deposits with futures brokers with a total value equal to approximately 4% to 5% of the notional value of the futures contracts.
Next, the research team invests the rest of the fund’s assets in fixed-income securities of varying maturities issued by domestic and foreign corporations, mortgage-related issuers and governments. The portfolio duration is up to three years and the dollar-weighted average maturity is up to five years.
The fund invests 85% of its net assets in fixed income investments rated at least investment grade and up to 15% of the fund’s net assets in securities rated below investment grade.
The fund also has the flexibility to invest up to 15% of its net assets in securities of foreign companies and emerging market companies each.
