Eugene “Gene” C. Sit was Chairman, CEO, and CIO of Minneapolis-based Sit Investment Associates, Inc. (SIA), an investment advisory firm founded in July 1981 with Peter L. Mitchelson P ’86. The firm operates through subsidiaries as an international investment advisory and mutual fund manager that offers mutual funds and corporate pension plans to institutions, endowments, foundations, and high net worth individuals.
Sit was also Chairman, CEO, and CIO of Sit/Kim International Investment Associate -- a subsidiary of SIA with offices in Minneapolis, New York, and San Francisco -- founded in 1989 with business associate Andrew Kim. Additionally, Sit was Chairman and CEO of Sit Investment Fixed Incomes Advisors, Inc.
Sit won an academic scholarship to DePaul University where he received his BSC before pursuing post-graduate study at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. After working for eight years with Commonwealth Edison (now part of Exelon Corporation) in Chicago, Sit came to Minneapolis in 1968 when he joined IDS Financial (now Ameriprise Financial).
Sit has served as a trustee of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management (International Programs), the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, TIAA/CREF, the Research Foundation of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Minnesota Orchestral Association, and the University of California-Berkeley Walter A. Haas School of Business
