The fund seeks total return by investing in companies outside the United States.
The sub-adviser’s investment process starts with a list of companies in the benchmark index and the research team utilizes quantitative techniques and fundamental analysis to identify investment opportunities.
Next, the research team invests significantly in fixed income securities of any kind.
Fixed income securities include bonds, debt securities and income-producing instruments of any kind issued by governmental or private-sector entities.
The team favors fixed income and other income-producing instruments rated BB or better and unrated securities to be of comparable credit quality.
Then the manager constructs a portfolio of stocks from a list of companies favored by the research team and allocates capital based on its conviction level.
The fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in fixed income and other income-producing instruments rated below BB and those that are unrated to be of comparable credit quality.
The fund may also invest in corporate debt obligations; asset-backed securities; foreign securities; emerging market securities; inflation-indexed bonds; bank loans and assignments; income-producing securitized products, and other instruments bearing fixed or variable interest rates of any maturity.
Additionally, the fund may also invest in other investment companies, including, other open-end or closed-end investment companies, ETFs, and domestic or foreign private investment vehicles.
